Student Projects
Mercer
University Physics Department
Our faculty and staff
invites students, from any schools and academic programs, to work with us in special research projects such
as the following.
Projects currently underway...
Projects our students have already completed:
(Summer 2001) Travis Konzelman worked with Dr. Jose Balduz on Quantum Measurement Theory. This involved both a computational and a conceptual component...
(Spring 2001) Taha Yarahmad performed numerical simulations in Plasma Physics with Dr. Douglas Young, as part of a physics research course. Title of her physics seminar presentation: "MAGIC Simulation of Plasma Confinement in a Magnetic Well."
(Spring 2001) Travis Konzelman studied Cosmology and wrote two papers on the subject, as part of an independent study course with Dr. Jose Balduz. Paper titles: "The Elements and Their Machinery," and "Correlations Between Cosmological and Socio-political Thought."
(Fall 2000 - Spring 2001) A number of students worked on an industry-sponsored project in the measurement of living tissue properties with Dr. Matthew Marone.
(Spring 2000) Hilary Loupee developed and built a science museum exhibit titled "Light Island," with funds from a physics mini-grant administered by Dr. Matthew Marone.
(Fall 1998 - Spring 1999) A number of students worked on Electric Power Assisted Steering with Dr. Randall Peters.
Potential projects for students, working with Dr. Randall Peters:
