Introduction to SigmaPlot and Maple

Abstract: The Mercer Physics Department has recently purchased licenses for the computer programs SigmaPlot and Maple. SigmaPlot is a scientific data-plotting program.  Maple is an analytic computation program that can compute both symbolic and numerical solutions to mathematical expressions.  In order to facilitate the use of these programs in the department, this seminar will introduce faculty and students on how to use both of the programs.  For the SigmaPlot program, importing and plotting data, formatting axes, and manipulating data within the program will be some of the topics discussed.  For the Maple program, basic calculation, plotting, differentiation, integration, linear algebra, and simple programming using Maple will be some of the topics discussed.
