Mercer University Online Interactive Chaotic Pendulum

Introduction:

Welcome to the Mercer University Online Interactive Chaotic Pendulum.  This is a live experiment using a real pendulum and not a computer simulation.  The pendulum is housed in the Experimental Physics Laboratory.  The Chaotic Pendulum was designed by Dr. Randall Peters who is the the Chair of the Department of Physics.  A commercial version of the pendulum is marketed by TEL-Atomic.  Please note that this live experiment uses LabVIEW to graph the data. The commercial pendulum from TEL-Atomic,(which will produce the same results), is written in Quick basic and is a DOS program. Therefore the graphic information will be seen in a different format. The commercial pendulum has been modified to operate inteactively via the internet by Dr. Matt Marone.  We hope that you will find this pendulum to be a useful teaching resource for the study of Chaos and Non-linear Physics.  Please keep in mind that this site is under development and we will be adding more functions in the future.  If you have any suggestions, you may contact me by e-mail.
